CoVid Policy In Honduras, 2022

HONDURAS GOOD WORKS COVID PROTOCOL, 2022

  1.  During the medical brigade, volunteers will be asked to self-monitor for symptoms of CoVid, including fever greater than 100.4.

  2. Should someone become symptomatic, the person will be asked to maintain physical distance from others, wear a surgical or KN-95 mask and get tested for CoVid as soon as possible.

  3. HGW will carry CoVid tests with us for events such as this.

  4. Should someone test positive on the trip, they will be kept in a separate room for 5 days at the Retreat Center, with meals delivered to them.  They will not leave their room while anyone else is in the common area.  They will wear a surgical or KN-95 mask if they do leave their room, in case they encounter someone else.

  5. If the USA is still requiring a negative CoVid test for return to the US, HGW will arrange for testing of all US volunteers at the appropriate time.

  6. If a volunteer tests positive, the test will be repeated.  If still positive, they will have to remain behind.

  7. The Retreat Center will allow that person to remain in a room, with meals delivered to their door.  Room and board will be at the volunteers expense.  ($60 a day—and there may be an extra cleaning fee).  Currently, 5 days is deemed adequate for isolation after a positive test, but CDC guidelines at the time will be followed.

  8. The person’s return to the US will be dependent on US rules at that time: (currently-either a letter from an MD stating the person has recovered from CoVid, or a negative rapid test is required).

  9. Rev. Dagoberto has offered to provide transportation to such an individual to get to the airport in Comayagua, provided he is compensated for fuel and wear and tear on his vehicle. This will be paid for by the individual.

  10. Should someone become quite ill from CoVid, they will be transported to a private hospital in Tegucigalpa at their expense.  Private hospitals do require upfront payment, and/or proof of insurance, which will be the responsibility of the patient.

  11. HGW will purchase travel insurance for each US volunteer, that provides $10,000 coverage for hospitalization for CoVid, which is secondary to the person’s primary US-based medical plan.

  12. Volunteers will be provided with a copy of the Gallagher travel insurance.

  13. If volunteers wish to purchase their own travel insurance, they of course, may do so.
