Volunteer Opportunities

You do not need to speak Spanish or have a medical background to be a volunteer. You just need a loving heart and a desire to help others.

Volunteer Wish List

  • The Education Committee makes several trips a year to Honduras to visit with our in-country team, visit the villages and schools, meet with the students, and audit the curriculum. Volunteers are always needed to assist in the logistics of administering and expanding this program.

We need 2-3 people to attend scholarship trips, and/or serve on the committee. A Spanish speaker would be great, someone who could talk to students and families, but not required. Should be interested in learning more about the scholarship program. Scholarship trips occur twice yearly, Nov/Dec and Feb to meet with students and their parents, provide encouragement, interact and motivate, and provide school supplies.

We need 1 person to manage donated school supplies and send out requests for supply donations when low.

  • Someone to help with website design.

Someone to keep website (WordPress) pages and posts up to date and pertinent.

Someone to do social media postings for all events.

Someone to manage and update our donor list. Ongoing through the year. Needs weekly updating, usually less than 30 minutes a week.

  • Every mission requires extensive preparation. Before departure, we schedule “packing parties” where volunteers break down bulk quantities of donated supplies into prescription-size portions that need to be carefully labeled and packed in shipping crates.

We could use a MD to learn medication ordering as a backup for Dr. Brenda.

We need someone in charge of getting volunteers’ data properly recorded, (payments, passport, drivers license, liability releases)

A MD to review the provider’s manual yearly and update as needed.

Someone to prepare and send out the monthly brigade newsletter, usually March through July.

Someone, preferably who has been on the brigade, to take a post brigade survey and summarize areas of success, and areas for improvement.

2-3 people to share updating and printing medication labels. Less than 2 hours a month for 6 months. Easy training.

  • Throughout the year we have ongoing campaigns to raise funds for our programs through events, solicitation from individuals and grant requests from foundations and governmental agencies. Volunteers are always needed.
