Board Chair
Alina was born in Cuba and came to the US when she was 8 years old. Her family came penniless and homeless but were helped by friends, different churches and organizations such as the Salvation Army. She grew up believing that she needed to help those in need. This was not just her Christian duty but it was a way of giving back to those who helped her family all those years ago.
She became an internal medicine physician and has worked mainly for institutions that help the underserved and most recently for Communitycare which is part of the Austin Travis county hospital health district.

Becky Sparks has been involved with Honduras Good Works for over 15 years, making her first trip accompanying the Youth Group from St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Killeen, Texas. Since then, she has gone every year (except for the COVID interrupted year), and has sponsored others as well. Her sons, William and Thiery have been active with the Brigade, and also with the Scholarship trips. Their participation serves as models for her involvement.
Becky has also had various roles with Honduras Good Works, including Risk Management, Packing Party Liaison for several churches, and Evangelism Team while in Honduras. There is always lots of fun to be experienced with the younger crowd on a Brigade! (Bubbles are her specialty!)
She recently completed 50 years as a certified pilot, and her aviation career included 33 years with Southwest Airlines. She is assigned as Deacon to Christ Episcopal Church, Temple, Texas, where some of her ministry emphasis includes those struggling with homelessness and addiction issues. (Christ Episcopal Church and St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Killeen continue to be sponsors of Honduras Good Works.)
She is honored to continue to be part of the efforts of Honduras Good Works.

Dennis’ introduction to HGW came about in 2006 after his spouse, Brenda Towell, volunteered him for the medical mission trip. He has missed 2 or 3 trips since but has made it a priority. While sitting around the table Dennis and others began to talk seriously about a scholarship program several years ago. The medical missions serve a need, but education is the long-term answer.
Dennis is trained as a medical oncologist and hematologist and has served as a provider on our missions. He retired from full time practice in 2015 but still works in New Zealand several months a year. I

Susan White is the daughter of the founding members of Honduras Good Works, Don and Bobi Hopkins. She has been involved in the mission trip since the beginning since her parents were throwing packing parties for medical supplies in their garage in Temple, Texas. When the medical brigade began going to Honduras in July, Susan joined the group and has been on over 10 trips with the medical team. Going to Honduras and serving God's people is the highlight of her year. Watching the HGW medical mission grow and continue has been a gift that keeps giving as much to the people we serve as it does to the ones who are moved to serve.

Board Member Emeritus
Brenda started going to Honduras with the medical brigades in 2010, at the insistence of her family who all had been on mission trips before! While she didn't feel at all equipped for such work, God indeed showed his Hand, providing the skills that she was lacking in other volunteers over and over again. This was clearly His working and His will. After a few years, she became more and more involved, serving on the brigade planning committee, and then chairing the Board from 2015-2021. She currently is chair of the health committee, and leads the brigade planning subcommittee. She also is active in our annual fund-raiser. She is a retired medical oncologist, married to fellow board member, Dr. Dennis Tweedy. She enjoys traveling, hiking, quilting and planning for the next brigade!

Reverendo Dagoberto has many churches under his direction. He serves as our Honduran Spiritual Advisor. Dagoberto works very closely with Honduras Good Works on all our programs there: medical mission, education, vitamin program, and church construction. Dagoberto makes it possible for our organization to do its good works.
