HONDURAS GOOD WORKS MEDICAL MISSION TRIP

MAY 2019 NEWSLETTER

We have an amazing team of volunteers going this year, (our 20th year!). It’s going to be an awesome time of sharing God’s love with our Honduran friends.

Social Media

We have created a Facebook event for brigade members and others to post and share photos. We will also post updates there as well. You can find the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/298162531107935/.

Drivers

Those of you who have agreed to drive while in Honduras (you must know how to drive a standard transmission vehicle) must upload a copy of your driver’s license by May 15. If you no longer intend to drive, please let us know at brigade.info@hondurasgoodworks.org or (830) 275-0106.

Passports

By this point you should have your passport ready. If you haven’t already, please upload a copy of your passport by May 15. If there is a problem meeting this deadline, please contact Ami Holt at amc_1992@hotmail.com.

United Frequent Flyers

We fly on United Airlines. To make sure you get credit for your miles contact Ami Holt to see if she has your United member number.

Payments

By now everyone has paid their non-refundable $200 deposit to hold your seat. Another $800 is due by May 15, 2019, and the balance of $1,000 will due by June 15, 2019.

If you are taking one of the side trips to Roatan or Copan, there will be an additional expense of approximately $100. We will add this to your payment page goal for you to track. For questions regarding the side trips please contact Ami Holt.

Packing Parties

The next and hopefully last packing party is scheduled for June 29 at St. Richard’s Episcopal Church, 1420 East Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock from 9-3, or until we are done!

Hotel Rooms in Houston

A block of 8 double rooms has been reserved for July 16 at the Red Roof Inn, 15675 John F Kennedy Boulevard, Houston, TX at $59 plus tax. There are 2 double beds in each room. To make a reservation call Red Roof Inn at (832) 243-7650.

The blocked rooms are under Becky or Rebecca Sparks. Please let Becky at capt_sparks@hotmail.com know you have reserved a room, and how many will be in the room. They will be released July 1.

If you reserve a room, you are responsible for the cost of the room. You can leave your car at the Red Roof for $4/day plus tax. Should you leave your car there, you are also responsible for the cost of parking.

Please note that the van at the Red Roof Inn leaves every 30 minutes for the airport and holds about 12 passengers. Since there will be other guests who will be departing for international destinations at the same time as we do, it may be necessary for some people to leave earlier than others in order for all to be at the airport by 6:00 a.m.
