Priorities

On our recent visit to Honduras in November of 2021, I flew from the Seattle area to join the team in Houston. The flight took us right by Mount Rainier, the highest point in Washington State. Its peak divides the rainy western slope of the Cascades from the drier east.In my conversations with scholarship students, twice I heard students express such gratitude for their scholarships, explaining that because of their scholarships, their parents didn't have to choose between providing an education for them and putting food on the table. The challenge of obtaining an education in Honduras is as big an obstacle as a 14,000 foot mountain peak. Yet both students also said their parents would have gone hungry to educate their children. Their priorities are clear! The scholarships we provide make scaling the peak just more doable. I am filled with gratitude for the inspiration the Hondurans provide us, and for the donors that make the scholarships possible.-- Fr. Paul Moore
