Medical Brigade 2024

We are so excited about our upcoming medical mission trip which is scheduled for July 10-17, 2024.  We have an amazing team of 52 volunteers registered.  While registration is closed, we still have many needs that you can help with:

  • DONATE.  You can donate to the brigade expenses in general, or earmark your donation for a specific missioner.

  • We have some volunteers that really need your help raising money for their participation.  Especially some Stony Point students who are earning their nurse assistant certification and would greatly benefit the patients we will be serving. If you want to support them please Donate Here.

  • Our AMAZON WISH LIST still has several items we will need to purchase for the trip if not donated, and your donations would be greatly appreciated.

  • ATTEND our labeling parties to label thousands of baggies for the medicines that the early team will be packing in Honduras, in the days prior to the brigade. Our first party will be at St. Luke's on the Lake Episcopal Church, Saturday May 11, from 9am - noon.  5600 RR 620N, Austin TX 78732.  We are celebrating 25 years of service in Honduras this year, and this will be a party!  We will be having an art sale as part of this special event, and some festive mimosas as well!

  • PRAYERS for safety, for logistics to come together to get medications shipped to Honduras prior to the trip, and many more logistics!

Registration has now closed, but if you have a burning desire to join us, please contact us HERE so we can discuss options with you.  If God is calling you, we want to hear about it!

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE BLOWN AWAY BY STUDENTS' ENTHUSIASM FOR EDUCATION

Five members of the scholarship committee recently traveled to Honduras for the annual meet-up with our students and their parents. Dr. Alina Ramos, as chair of HGW, went for her first time on the scholarship trip this year.  In her words:

This was my first scholarship trip and it was a true blessing to be able to go. It was an eye opening experience. I felt I knew enough about scholarships but talking to these kids, their parents and the leadership of these communities gave me new perspective on the Honduras education system and how we have impacted these communities. The scholarships have caused a tremendous shift in education especially in the more isolated, distant villages…

As we celebrate 25 years of service in Honduras, we thought it would be great to talk to the founders, Don and Bobbi Hopkins, and Cindy Smith, about some of their memories of those early days.

2023 Brigade Report

Our team of 66 volunteers from the USA and Honduras had an intense week of work and of joy!  2000 plus medical and dental patients were served in our 5 days of clinics. We had to cope with many new rules regarding our medicines, and with the absence of some of our key volunteers due to health problems. But God provided.  Our medicines arrived with barely enough time to get them packed, but packed they were, with the help of our scholarship students.  We had so many new volunteers from the States and from Honduras, all with a heart willing to help those less fortunate.  Thanks to their time and talents, their hard work, and their patience, grateful villagers received much needed care and medicines.  We couldn't do this without all the help and support from our donors as well.  THANK YOU!
